About Us
Civil Air Patrol South San Diego Cadet Squadron 201 is located in San Diego County, California, in Group 8 of the California Wing of Civil Air Patrol.
Squadron 201is proud to be dedicated to developing leadership and building character based upon the United States Air Force Leadership Model. As a Cadet Squadron, we participate in all three of our Missions (Aerospace Education, Emergency Services, & Cadet Programs) however, we focus on Cadet Programs.
CAP builds character, puts integrity, honor, and respect first, and is rooted in patriotic values. CAP sets young people up for future success by giving them the education and skills they need to thrive in the future. CAP offers a unique opportunity to be a part of something that makes a real difference, saves lives, and restores hope.
Our meetings are structured with one hour of rotational instruction (The subjects rotate weekly – Character Development –Leadership – Aerospace Education – Emergency Services & Physical Training), the remaining hour is “flight time” where the cadets break out into teams based on their experience and progression in the program for more personalized training in everything from Drill & Ceremonies to public speaking to leadership techniques.
We proudly wear the Uniform of the United States Air Force, with some distinctive modifications to identify us as the USAF Auxiliary, however, there is no obligation to military service. While many of our cadets do elect to serve in the Armed Forces (including many through Military Academies), several pursue other service-related professions (Fire, Law Enforcement, Medical, EMT, etc) or become leaders in private business.
Joining
We require three visits before applications can be accepted and processed (this is to assure that you are comfortable with the program), however, after meeting with the command staff for a brief introduction, prospective cadets may participate in all except for the Physical Training activities at our meetings, and apply the knowledge and skills developed towards their first promotion should they elect to join.
